He knows he could be doing more, helping more, but he isn’t given the opportunity. However, all of his missions are close to Konoha, only nearby battlegrounds, and Minato knows he isn’t anyone important, but he chaffs at the orders. Yes, part of that is due to his teammates’ deaths absences, but part of that is because the one person he wants to see right now isn’t in Konoha, isn’t even close.Įveryone has their orders, and so Minato will keep following his, will keep marching, will keep fighting. There is still the war, inescapable, and Minato still fights, still completes his missions, still follows his orders, but he feels off-balance. Konoha has always been home, and it still is! It just… feels lesser, now, (or perhaps it’s only Minato who feels lesser and Konoha is the same as always). He keeps turning to talk to them, to reach for them, finds himself pausing in front of their doors, and- and there’s never anyone there, never anyone behind them. It’s even worse because Minato had been there and had watched the blood fly, the bodies fall, and had done nothing. They don’t know how it feels to be the only one left of three, the only one standing, the only one left alive. Though his friends try to understand, they can’t. His friends are there, concern gentle and warranted, but Minato can do nothing to reassure them. The days slip away from in grey swathes, and he remembers so little. Honestly I wanna see feral Minato like Jiraya tried to come back like nothing was wrong only now Minato doesn’t need nor does he want him hell maybe Minato had sign the snake contract truly flourished under Orochimaru tutelage and love like a father (Or a mother cause he gives me mama vibes and we Stan that) we get the hurt and love and we truly can see how much Minato loves his parental figure Orochimaru but the plan A Okay so it MIGHT have taken me like four months to actually complete this fic despite the fact it is relatively short, but it's finally done!
